Dublin by Train
Thurles is the nearest train station to Cashel, located just
15 miles away. Trains pass through this station every hour
enroute to Dublin.
Some of the trains are express and travelling time is 1hour
10minutes. This makes the journey to Dublin very comfortable
and relaxing.
Arriving in Heuston Station you can then get a taxi, bus
or the Luas (the new tram line which is fast and efficient)
to the city centre. The day is yours, the most popular visits
in Dublin are Trinity College to see the Book of Kells, Christ
Church Cathedral which is the finest example of Gothic Architecture
in Dublin. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, again Gothic, where
Jonathan Swift, author of Gullivers Travels was once the dean
and there he rests as his crypt is in the Cathedral.
There are many tours of the city, the most convenient being
the Hop-on-Hop-off city tour as you can take in the sites
at your own pace.
There is also a Pub Tour available to be booked from the
tourist office in Suffolk Street.
You can travel to Dublin, enjoy a full day sightseeing and/or
shopping and return to Cashel in time for a gourmet dinner
